EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING 

2007-08 

November 26, 2007

 CALL TO ORDER: 2:40 p.m.

 

ATTENDANCE:

 Dia Hernandez – President, Tracy German – V.P., JoAnn Kohler – Treasurer, Sandy Mann – Recording Secretary,  Mark Norman – Delegate,  Kathryn McKinley – Principal, Debbie O’Byrne – Asst. Principal, Cathy Lein – Staff Appreciation, Susan Kelley – 6th Grade Activities, Anita Koehler – Volunteer Coordinator,  Lori Ferraro – School Support and Interaction.

   

MINUTES:

 There were no objections to the October minutes and reading of the minutes was waived.  Motion was made and approved to accept the minutes as written.

 PRESIDENT’S REPORT:

 Special Education Support Committee – This committee is up and running.  Laura McDonald, Jeanne Furman and Young Hahn have met several times.  Committee has sponsored a speaker on learning styles from River Hill High School for American Education Week and Friday Parent Forum.  Young is also coordinating with Cathy Lein in getting more parent involvement from this group with hospitality volunteering.  The group is moving forward with some great ideas.

 

TREASURER’S REPORT:

 Audit has been completed.  Few small notes have been addressed by JoAnn.  Reminder to submit your receipts and that sales tax is reimbursable.  We are looking for a new auditor for next year.  $50 thank you check was sent to Lynn for completing past audit.  Taxes have been completed for the year.  When submitting deposits, please attach a spreadsheet with name/amount, etc. or tape register receipt that also includes total of the deposit.  We need to add another officer to the signature card at the bank (only JoAnn and Dia are current).  All 3 must go to bank to sign the card.  Please remember to use the check requisition forms.

  

October and November Treasurer’s Report was reviewed.

 Oct. Income included: $920 membership dues, $ 571.41 Escrip and Box Tops, $91.65 miscellaneous, $21,817.72 Magazine Drive $3,692.89 Spirit Wear Receipts.

 

Oct. Expenses included: $362.87   7th Grade Activities, $35.87   8th Grade Activities, $650.00 School Spirit Activities, $102.90 Teacher/Staff Appreciation, $69.73 Teacher Team Support, $15,804.82 Magazine Drive – Cost of Goods, $610.73 Magazine Drive-Sales Expense, $$29.68 Other Fundraiser Cost of Goods, $89.85 Membership Expense, and $20.61 PTA Supplies.

 Nov. Income Included: $9.848.15 Other Fundraiser Income (Yankee Candle),

 Nov. Expenses Included: $ $27.50  6th Grade Activities, $82.95 Recognition-Student, ($703.30) School Spirit Activities, $386.68 Teacher/Staff Appreciation, $389.99 Teacher Team Suport, $607.99 Magazine Drive – Cost of Goods, $271.48 Other Fundraiser Cost of Goods, and $50.00 Audit Fee.

 

PRINCIPAL’S REPORT:

 Mrs. McKinley commended Parents as Partners group for their presentation.  

 We’ve celebrated our first quarter honor roll.  This is still sponsored by the PTA.  We’ve already had the 6th Grade Honor Assembly for Gold, Silver, Bronze and perfect attendance.  7th and 8th Grade assemblies will follow.  All grades ran the Turkey Trot.  The kids had a great time and some parents came out.  We would like to see more come next year.  Tara Brennan has returned to Mount View.  Chorus has started.  Winter Concert will be on Dec. 18th – we are asking for $1 donation at the door to defray costs.  The staff thanks you all for the lunches and dinners.  6th Grade is kicking off Water for the World campaign on 11/29.   The next SIT meeting is this Wednesday.  Data will be shared after the meeting.  Student Government is up and running.  The elections are coming up.  We’ve ordered a wax machine for hanging posters in the halls.  Cost is about $200 – would like help from the PTA for this expense.

 

 

 

ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL’S REPORT:

 

Mrs. O’Byrne reported that after school programs have started.  Math, Reading and Homework program is by invite from the staff only.  Organization club has started as well.  PBIS – going well.  We’ve had only 11 behavioral referrals since beginning of school year (mostly bus issues) but this is still down from last year.

 COMMITTEE REPORTS:

 MEMBERSHIP:  We are up to 436 members.

 HOSPITALITY:  Cathy reported.  Had breakfast for staff during American Education Week.  Also, 2 soup and salad lunches, coffee everyday.  Dinner was provided on during conferences.  Young Hahn’s committee helped with food preparation and volunteering.

 FUNDRAISING:

 Spirit Wear – Items have been delivered….sales of about $4,000.  Next sale in spring.

 Yankee Candle – Delivery is Dec. 6th.  Looking for volunteers to help distribute that day.

 Coffee – Place orders online.

 Escrip/Box Tops – other vendor participation is on website for escrip.

 SCHOOL SUPPORT & INTERACTION:

 Volunteer Coordinator - Lori Ferraro reported.  We are still providing volunteers for Talon time on Fridays and for lunch duty.

 Custodians have asked for small entry way rug with Mt. View logo.  Tammy Lightner’s company volunteered to provide it.

  DELEGATES REPORT:

 Marc Norman reported on the information presented at the November PTA Council meeting.  It was a short meeting.

 1.      Coat Drive – They appreciated all the coats from us and the other schools around the county.

 2.      Homewood School/ARL now asking that all the PTA’s support them with money donations (set amount from each school).  Will discuss further.

 3.      Book Drive starts in January.
