EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING
2007-08
February 19, 2008
CALL TO ORDER: 2:38 p.m.
ATTENDANCE:
Dia Hernandez – President, Tracy German – Vice President, JoAnn Kohler – Treasurer, Sandy Mann – Recording Secretary, Marc Norman – Delegate, Kathryn McKinley – Principal, Debbie O’Byrne – Asst. Principal, Dan Yetter – 8th Grade Team Representative, Wendy Vlahos – 8th Grade Activities, Cathy Lein – Staff Appreciation, Lori Ferraro – School Support.
MINUTES:
There were no objections of the January minutes and reading of the minutes was waived. Motion was made and approved to accept the minutes as written.
PRESIDENT’S REPORT:
Nominating Committee - We are still looking for volunteers for the nominating committee. We will do an e-school newsletter asking for volunteers.
TREASURER’S REPORT:
January and February Treasurer’s Report was reviewed.
Jan. Income Included: $4.75 Miscellaneous, $376.36 Magazine Drive, $126.28 Other Fundraiser Income, $212.10 Spirit Wear receipts.
Jan. Expenses Included: $110.78 Recognition-Honor Roll, $216.02 School Spirit Activities, $200.00 Classroom support/resources, $92.00 Teacher/Staff appreciation, $848.27 Teacher Team Suport, ($750.00) Magazine Drive – Sales Expense, $3,174.10 Spirit Wear Expenses.
Feb. Income Included: $145.00 Miscellaneous (Harbin Farm Tree Sales), $73.00 Other Fundraiser Income.
Feb. Expenses Included: $228.97 Recognition-Student, $423.33 Teacher Team Support.
PRINCIPAL’S REPORT:
Thanks on behalf of the staff for a great conference dinner. We held the Outdoor Education informational meeting. We’ve had 1 snow day this year. MSA testing will occur over 4 days. They are allowing us to provide a snack and water. We have a potential donor for the water. We are looking for snacks (4 days of snacks for approx. 730 students). Science testing for MSA is only for 8th graders and will be administered via computer. We have requested to use the high school labs as well as ours. We will have walking permission slips. Mt. View will be hosting summer school this year for below level reading and math. We are down one custodian. We have hired the cafeteria manager. Western Horizon Council has asked for some of our students to be involved on committee. We have received staffing schedule for next year. They are predicting our enrollment to be down by 40 students. We have 2 teachers going out on leave: Nicole Parsons and Heather Shields. As of Friday we had used up our paper allotment for the year.
TEAM REPORTS:
Dan Yetter reported for the Teams. Thanks again for the staff meal during conferences. 6th, 7th and 8th grade are preparing for upcoming MSA testing. 8th grade is working out issues with science testing. Also finishing up high school education. 8th grade is gearing up for going through test mode as are the other grades. 6th grade is busy planning for outdoor education.
SGA update – the t-shirt drive has been successful. We are working on recycling program and coordinating efforts with the custodial staff.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
MEMBERSHIP: nothing new to report.
FUNDRAISING:
Spirit Wear – notices will go out in March for the Spring Sale. Orders will be due in April and delivered in May.
Escrip – Martin’s was added to the escrip. We also talked about ways to make parents more aware of giving our school credit for purchases at various establishments. One possibility is a printed wallet card with our school #’s for each program on it, etc.
HOSPITALITY: Teachers are having “pie day” in March. They have asked hospitality committee to provide and serve pie for the teachers on that day.
STUDENT SUPPORT ACTIVITIES:
6TH Grade- went to Adventure Park on 2/18. 34 attended.
7th Grade – No report.
8th Grade - had cosmic bowling on 2/8. Only 10 attended. Many were out of town.
Cultural Arts – 8th will be doing Shakespeare but Fran has not been able to get anything lined up schoolwide. Dia will look into some programs.
Spirit Team – will be meeting today. The Winter Bash is on 2/22.
DELEGATES REPORT:
Marc Norman reported on the Council Meeting. They went over various policies including the Commercial Crime Policy. There are some awards available with deadlines coming up.

There was no old business to discuss.
NEW BUSINESS:
There was no new business to discuss.
